On February 10 local time, Lyu Zexiang, chairman of Energy China International, met with Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI), in Dubai. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on advancing the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the UAE’s Vision 2030 and Energy Strategy 2050, as well as comprehensively expanding cooperation in green energy and infrastructure sectors.

During the meeting, Mr. Lyu emphasized that, as a global leading provider of integrated solutions for energy, power, and infrastructure industries, Energy China is dedicated to supporting the UAE’s green and low-carbon development goals. He proposed building a communication mechanism with the MOEI to leverage the comprehensive industry chain capabilities and strategic planning expertise of Energy China, focusing on cooperation in key areas including conventional power generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy and energy storage, integrated transportation, housing construction, and water services. Additionally, Energy China is keen to explore investment opportunities to promote the UAE’s green energy transition and infrastructure upgrade.
Sharif Al Olama acknowledged Energy China’s significant contributions to the UAE’s economic and social development through a number of landmark projects, including the Umm Al Quwain Desalination Project, which have achieved excellent operational performance and delivered substantial social benefits. He hoped that Energy China could seize the emerging opportunities, align closely with the UAE’s national energy strategy, and fully utilize its industry-leading expertise to deepen collaboration in energy, water, infrastructure, and rail transit, and that the two sides could work together to set new benchmarks for practical cooperation between China and the UAE.
