On April 17, H.E. Mr. Khaled Nazmy, Egyptian Ambassador to China, visited Energy China International. During his meeting with Lyu Zexiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Energy China International, both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on deepening pragmatic cooperation in energy, power, and infrastructure sectors. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Khaled Melad Rezek, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in China.

During the meeting, Chairman Lyu Zexiang highlighted that CEEC, while intensifying its efforts to develop business in the Egyptian market, has strengthened communication and contacts with the Egyptian partners to facilitate the delivery of tangible cooperation outcomes. It will further increase input of resources and actively contribute to the investment and construction of key projects in Egypt, including new energy, energy storage power plants, battery manufacturing plants, seawater desalination, data centers, and logistics parks. Efforts will also be made in accelerating the implementation of more priority projects while establishing joint research platforms, which focus on the researches of cutting-edge new energy technologies and cultivating power technology professionals, in a bid to advance Egypt’s electricity industry development with concrete actions.
Ambassador Nazmy acknowledged that under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the mutually beneficial cooperation between Egypt and China has been steadily deepening. Egypt is currently vigorously promoting the new energy development and the localization of relevant industries, while actively attracting foreign investment in this regard. It hopes that CEEC could seize the development opportunities by focusing on Egypt’s development priorities, leverage on its proven expertise and technological strengths and contribute greater efforts to the investment and construction in Egypt’s energy, power, and infrastructure sectors, in a bid to deliver more high-quality projects that benefit local communities and support green development. The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in China stands ready to provide active support for CEEC’s endeavors in Egypt.
