Bash Wind Farm of Bukhara Wind Power Project in Uzbekistan Launched into Commercial Operation

On March 23 local time, the Bash Wind Farm of Bukhara Wind Power Project in Uzbekistan has witnessed the successful completion of 168-hour reliability run test for all its 500MW wind turbines, and officially launched all 79 wind turbines into full commercial operation. The Project, jointly constructed by China Energy International Engineering Co., Ltd., China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd., China Power Engineering Consulting Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., and North China Power Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group, has achieved an early fulfillment of contractual milestones with outstanding performance across all technical indicators.

It represents another milestone attained following two key project phases: the 1 GW full-capacity grid connection and the grouped 168-hour reliability run test for 158 wind turbines. Moving forward, the Project Team will comprehensively execute the punch list work and expedite defect resolution to ensure the handover of the Project as scheduled.

The 1GW Bukhara Wind Power Project, located in the southern Kyzylkum Desert, comprises two 500MW wind farms, namely, Bash and Dzhankeldy, which stand as the largest single wind power project officially launched for construction in Central Asia. Once fully operational, it is expected to generate over 3.59 billion kWh of electricity annually and reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 1.6 million tons. This landmark initiative will substantially enhance the regional power supply capacity, optimize Uzbekistan’s energy portfolio, and drive the country’s sustainable and high-quality socio-economic development by advancing its green energy transition.
